About Kurt

Kurt Diedericks is a Cape Town-born drummer, educator, producer, composer, and musician. He began his career on stage performing with Goema-composers Mac McKenzie, Hilton Schilder, and Alex Van Heerden at age 15 and has played with some of South Africa’s biggest artists and exports including Freshly Ground, Ard Matthews, PHFAT, Nonku Phiri, Sannie Fox, Southpaw, and Flypaperjet to name a few. Choral, jazz, and a strong sense of harmony influence his broad-ranging musical explorations as a session musician, composer, and most recently, electronic producer and DJ. He has around 10 years of teaching experience teaching a wide age group from children from 6 years old to adults and performing experience of over 20 years.

Kurt is always seeking sounds and ideas that innovate and push boundaries and hopes to inspire others to do the same through music and art.

About the lesson

Enjoy the beautiful experience of making and performing music with others and in front of an audience.

*Learn a practical approach to music theory to communicate
effectively with your band members and conduct efficient
rehearsals.

*Learn how to read rhythm and make a basic song chart to use
in rehearsals.

*Learn about etiquette in the rehearsal room and on stage, how
to have efficient soundchecks and prepare a performance to
be proud of.

Together, as a band, you will learn to choose the perfect songs, for your set/performance. Also, learn to use electronics to enhance your show musically if needed.

Hopefully, you will also create lasting connections and be empowered to go out there and perform with confidence and excellence!

This first lesson offered with Kurt will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details

Rehearsals will take place at a rehearsal studio at an hourly rate (included).
Each rehearsal will be instructed by myself and charts for the music will be provided to each player where necessary.
Individual lessons for drums(only in-person), guitar, and keys are offered online or in person at an extra charge.
