About Sheena
I graduated from nursing school with an academic scholarship and a commitment to lifelong learning. Currently, I am a trained oncology RN working towards my chemotherapy certification. I passed my NCLEX first try and am more than aware of the stress and anxiety it can cause, so I would love to help support others through this journey. I've been a peer mentor in my last years of nursing school where I helped students prepare for their exams and practicals, and provided an unjudgmental ear for their concerns and stressors. I would love to support and work with this new generation of students!

My general teaching methodology is that I am here to answer questions and fill in knowledge gaps, rather than regurgitate textbook information and read off slides. A typical lesson plan would include a general summary of the topic, before diving into each subtopic as in-depth as the student would like. I would then implement teach-back, a quiz, or another modality to assess understanding of the material after the lesson. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I have worked with a wide variety of learning needs and thus can accommodate my teaching style to the needs of students (written materials, verbal explanations, flashcards, diagrams, etc). I am open to feedback and critiques at any time and will continue to personalize my lessons to the needs of my students throughout the time they are working with me. My nursing lessons are for students preparing or working towards a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My English and essay lessons are open for all ages/levels, including bachelor's degrees.
