About Vanessa

Hello! My name is Vanessa, and I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), a dedicated tutor, and a proud mom. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Education, which allows me to continuously grow, stay current with best practices, and bring high-quality, research-informed strategies into my teaching.

Working with children is not just my profession—it’s truly my passion. Through both my career and my experience as a parent, I understand that every child learns differently. About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is centered on making learning meaningful, engaging, and tailored to each child’s developmental stage. With my background in early childhood education, I focus on building strong foundational skills in both math and language while supporting confidence, curiosity, and independence.

**Teaching Methodology & Techniques**
I use a play-based and inquiry-driven approach, especially for younger learners from kindergarten to Grade 3. I believe children learn best when they are actively involved, so I incorporate hands-on activities, visuals, storytelling, and real-life connections into every lesson.

For math, I focus on understanding concepts rather than memorization—using manipulatives, counting games, and problem-solving activities to build number sense.
For language, I emphasize phonics, reading comprehension, and expressive communication through interactive reading, writing prompts, and conversation-based learning.

I also differentiate my teaching to match each child’s pace and learning style, whether they need extra support, repetition, or enrichment.

**A Typical Lesson Plan**
A standard session is structured but flexible to meet the child’s needs:

* **Warm-up (5–10 minutes):** Review of previous learning through a quick game or discussion
* **Main Lesson (20–30 minutes):** Introduction or practice of a specific skill (e.g., addition strategies or reading comprehension)
