About Louis
I’m interested in teaching because I strongly believe that there are ways that Maths can be taught which makes it genuinely interesting and fun, and there are ways it can be taught that makes students think that ‘Maths isn’t for me’. My goal and motivation as a tutor is to demonstrate the interesting and fun side of Maths and to give students the confidence to use numbers and mathematical techniques to answer challenging problems.

My strength as a tutor is the ability to get to know the student and find out what approach will work for them, and then adapt my teaching style accordingly. For example, a parent of a student I taught wrote: ‘Louis identified the ‘type’ of learner my son was, thereby integrating complementary ways of teaching during lessons’.
I have A*s in Maths and Further Maths at A-level, as well as placing in the top 25% of Oxford University students for Economics.
My lessons typically last an hour and my priority is always to encourage students to develop their own ways of learning in a subject, so they can have the confidence to tackle challenging problems on their own when it comes to future assessments.
