About Lauren
I am a recent graduate of the UCSB Environmental Studies program, where I focused on physical geography and maintained a spot on the Honor Roll. There alongside my studies I spent time working in a soils lab collecting, processing, and documenting samples for chemical analysis. Additionally, I have extensive knowledge on plant biology and ecological systems.
Most recently, I worked at a food cooperative where I became familiar with the importance of local food production in reducing our carbon footprint and improving community access to healthy diet options. I can’t stress enough my love of the natural environment and it certainly shows in the way I communicate scientific concepts. I also have excellent writing skills, having received top marks on every essay I've ever submitted.

I am able to communicate complex concepts to people of all ages in a way they can easily understand and relate to. I am very playful and fun, but also know how to encourage my peers to focus when it comes time to buckle down and learn important things. I am able to show discipline in a productive manner, being stern without seeming harsh when necessary. I am extremely patient and sensitive to individual circumstances and learning styles, and will spend as much time as it takes with someone to help them work through whatever they're struggling with. I have experience tutoring those with special needs and elementary school children who struggled with reading.
In summary, I would describe myself as enthusiastic, creative, compassionate, and committed.
