About Andrzej

I have just finished studying undergraduate Biological Sciences at the University of Oxford and am predicted to receive a 1st class degree. My recent experience of the Oxbridge tutorial and admissions systems means I am well placed to provide up-to-date admissions advice and practise interviews, as well as A-level, GCSE and 11+ tuition. I strongly believe the route to academic success in any subject at any level is to cultivate interest and confidence in that area. For this reason my classes are personally tailored to each student and have a dual focus both on core curriculum knowledge and higher level reading, discussion and debate.

My areas of particular interest within biology include evolutionary theory, practical and theoretical ecology (especially species conservation and climate change), animal behaviour (with a focus on navigation, signalling and cognition), human genetics, and statistics (for example using the programming language R). I am also knowledgeable in the areas of immunology, epidemiology, physiology, embryology and metabolism.

I can also provide tuition in chemistry, up to to A-level. Outside of science I have a passion for history, developed both through my A-level course and membership of the Oxford University History Society, with particular focus on late Hellenistic warfare, the Second Punic War, Early Medieval Europe, the European Reformation and British domestic history from ~1750 to ~1900.

I have one-on-one online and in person experience tutoring at GCSE and A-level standard, as well as providing personal statement and essay writing advice to potential historians and scientists (one of whom received an offer to study history at Oxford and another to study medicine). My particular strengths lie in lifting students to their required grade boundaries and strengthening their personal statements and interview performance by exploring subject areas beyond the curriculum. I have experience with a number of different exam boards, including AQA (history, biology), Edexcel (chemistry) and OCR (Latin).
