About Elizabeth

I am 21 and I graduated this summer in Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh with a 2:1. I am planning on starting my Master's in September, but hope to continue with tutoring once my Master's has started.
I am invested in helping raise students' confidence in STEM subjects, having conquered doubts in my own ability at school. I aim to make the more intimidating aspects of Maths and Chemistry approachable to students using the same processes and logic that I did.

My young age should help students to be unafraid to ask questions, as well as allow me to relate more to any struggles with the subject they might have, by recalling how I overcame or solved such problems myself not too long ago.

A-levels: Maths (A*), Further Maths (A), Chemistry (A*), English Literature (B)

About the lesson

I have not officially tutored before, but have taken a Mathematical Education course this year at university which involved online tutoring sessions with Advanced Higher Mathematics students (equivalent to A-level), as well as learning the theories behind how students best learn Mathematics, and how to overcome some of the common difficulties students face in learning. I am also a STEM Ambassador and have a PCG Certificate (suitable to work with children).

My lessons are for A-level and GCSE students. Given that I am a recent graduate, A-level and GCSE content and exam logic for mathematics, further mathematics and chemistry is still very much fresh on my mind. I thus feel that I could offer in-depth help in these subjects as well as relate to any difficulties with the subject that students may face.
I hope to offer a sound, thorough approach on how to logically solve exam questions, as well as the grounding and understanding in subject content. I am also happy to help with very specific topics within the subject, or answer questions off-topic from the lesson plan if that is what the student requires. In my sessions, I plan to use past paper questions, CGP text books and any work from the student's classes that they may want to refer to.

I have very few obligations over the Summer in particular, so can offer 1-2 hour sessions as frequently as desired at times that suit you.

As a side note - if the student does have the odd question from a different subject, particularly English, I believe I could offer help there too, given my English Literature A-level.
