I base my teaching on gaining a conceptual understanding first so the student develops a mental picture before we start learning the methodology to solving the problems. I believe it is crucial to understand what the problem means before leaning how to solve it, this leads to a deeper understand which will benefit the student greatly as they move to more advanced topics
