About Fatma
I believe in the unique power of language--particularly English, the world's 'lingua franca' or 'common language', in driving and transforming our lives. We read and treasure books; we write stories to inspire and connect; we speak to each other on a regular basis. Our command of the English language has the power to improve our relationships, job opportunities and output in the world. By becoming your tutor I would use my Comparative Literature degree to help you hone in on those skills, whether you are a refugee looking to work on your literacy or a sixth-former struggling to write about Shakespeare with flair and interest. Whatever it is that you need, we can work together to come up with a plan and work through it.

ESSAY-WRITING When it comes to essay-writing at GCSE or A-level, the student and I can go through their own essay or sample essays (including my own where the level/subject is relevant) and discuss pointers on what needs improvement, be it depth and breadth of research, editing choices, referencing, and more. I can also assist them in creating essay plans. ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE When it comes to teaching English as a foreign language, I can help the student by practising speaking and pronunciation skills, writing exercises and applying for jobs. I come from an Arab family and have some basic French skills so these will come in handy in easing the transition for francophone/arabic-speaking students. TEACHING ENGLISH TO KIDS I can offer homework help at any school level up to and including GCSE, from English language to poetry and literature. LESSONS - Please note that the student and I will need to liaise several days in advance via email or text message about what they want to tackle so that I can create a lesson plan. - Lessons can be anywhere between 30mins to 1h30mins depending on what the student needs to tackle and my availability; again we can plan this in advance. - I am happy to give a free trial lesson and then negotiate a price for future lessons afterwards.
