About Joshua
I am an Ivy-educated, lifelong reader and writer. I have done copy-editing for several published books and, through my education in ancient Latin and Greek, developed a great understanding of the etymology of English words and a significant lexicon from which to draw for my spoken and written usage.
I have taught in after-school programs for elementary and middle school-aged children at various locations over the past 20 years.
I also have an MBA in Finance and Strategy and have co-founded several cool startups. I ran a side business for several years drafting business plans
I am the father of two wonderful girls who I instructed on English, math, and science classes from the basics through high school.

Whether you are learning to read for the first time, trying to be more professional in your written communication, or grew up with a different language and want to improve your English written and reading skills, I can help.
My style is direct and instructive, with lesson plans adapted to your specific level and focused on what you are trying to achieve.
The first meeting will begin with an assessment and a mutual agreed outcome.
Lessons for younger students and new English learners. will include sight-reading, phonetics, and "rules" for pronunciation and spelling.
Lessons for more advanced students will include the above, as needed, along with more advanced writing techniques, sentence structure, and word usage, and will focus on grammar, punctuation, syntax, and style.
Homework will depend on the level, needs, and intended outcome of the plan.
