About Olivia

Subject specialist tutor of mathematics and fully qualified teacher with over ten years of experience. Qualifications include: • MEng in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London. • MA in Acting from Arts Educational Schools. • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). • Enhanced DBS Certificate. I have a limited number of in-person tuition sessions available for the current academic year.

About the lesson

My teaching style is dynamic, engaging, and positive, and I adapt my approach to meet the needs of each individual student. I specialise in teaching students who lack confidence or find themselves easily distracted, particularly those who find themselves poorly suited to mainstream education. I believe that establishing mutually respectful relationships with students and their families is crucial if students are to achieve their full potential. The tuition I offer follows this structure: 1. Direct Instruction Illustrating complex mathematical concepts using step-by-step, visual, real-world examples. 2. Guided Practice Strengthening students’ understanding of key concepts by supporting them in efficiently engaging with mathematical problem-solving. 3. Independent Practice Providing resources for students to practise and consolidate skills independently between sessions, using this to give feedback and optimise future learning.
