About Dee

My ultimate goal is to empower students to achieve their potential. My main subject is not openly loved by all, but I believe it is far more accessible than people believe - I've lost count of the number of people (adults included) who've told me they "can't do" Maths, yet we all use it every day.

From the outset, I will work with you to identify your goal. From being able to tell the time through to trigonometry & unpicking those tricky GCSE exam questions that don't seem to volunteer a method. Teamwork will be key. I'll plan lessons thoroughly but with flexibility in mind - if something proves more difficult, we'll troubleshoot until you're happy. On the other hand, if you fly through a task with ease, I'll have harder challenges ready!

I am also an experienced examiner - so I have insight into how marks are awarded and I can empower students with enhanced exam techniques.

I initially trained as a Primary teacher but soon transitioned to Secondary. I have predominantly worked with students with SEND, including Autism and SEMH. I have a mental health qualification (Postgraduate diploma) and I am very passionate about supporting students to overcome barriers to learning. That being said, I’ve taught the high-fliers too - it’s all about meeting the student where they are & guiding them to achieve their true potential.

I'm also able to offer support beyond the 1:1 online sessions; if you want homework, just say the word! I can also give support via email as required.

About the lesson

My aim is to support students to achieve their potential. I am able to break complex tasks into manageable steps and provide students with the skills to face new challenges with a growth mindset.

I have a Mathematics degree, a PGCE (teaching qualification) and I am a qualified SENCO. I have 14 years' experience of teaching in a variety of contexts - mainstream, special and hospital schools, as well as home tutoring for those unable to access an education at school.

I offer online Mathematics tuition for Key Stages 2-4; from basic numeracy through to Higher Tier GCSE. I am also able to offer English for the same ages/abilities, as I have taught both throughout my career.

Lessons are typically one hour in duration, though this can be discussed.
