About Kathleen
I am a qualified teacher holding PGCEs in Education and TESOL having studied at MMU and Lancaster University - teaching and tutoring at all levels (primary, basic skills through to degree level) for sixteen years. I am also an exam marker and writing moderator. English is my specialism and I have supported many students from primary education, basic skills, secondary, A Levels, ESL, degree students and helped businesses with copywriting and editorial work.

I use a skill based approach to my teaching incorporating creative, learner led outcomes, enabling students to learn quickly. Prior to teaching, I assess my students for gaps, so that my lessons are taught through specific objectives set to allow fast progression and the development of confidence. I teach all genres of writing including narrative, report writing, academic writing (dissertation), poetry, business and creative writing. Within these genres I not only teach structure and features but use the full range of punctuation for creative, business and academic writing. In addition, I teach students comprehension skills for reading and speed reading, I also teach English language to second language learners and help them to achieve fluency through key words.
