About Nicolas
I am a professional educator with a strong academic background and current classroom experience. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Gothenburg and a PGCE in Secondary Science with a specialism in Physics from the University of Chichester. Currently, I teach Physics and Computer Science in secondary schools and colleges, which keeps me fully immersed in the UK curriculum and the latest exam standards.
My experience spans across multiple levels of education. Beyond my current school roles, I have served as a University Teaching Assistant where I led problem classes and labs for undergraduate mathematics and programming. I have also held a leadership role as a board member for a tutoring organisation, where I delivered revision lectures and worked to make mathematics more accessible to a wider range of students.
I believe that learning happens best when students feel supported and understood. My students value my calm approach and my ability to break down complex, intimidating ideas into manageable, logical steps. My background in mathematics, combined with university-level modules in physics and computer science, allows me to bridge the gap between subjects. I help my students see how mathematical tools apply to science and technology, which is often the key to unlocking higher grades and deeper understanding.

MY TEACHING APPROACH
I am a friendly and organised tutor with a PGCE in Secondary Science specialising in Physics and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. My teaching is shaped by my current experience in UK secondary schools and colleges, ensuring that I am always up-to-date with curriculum changes and exam board requirements.
MY METHODOLOGY
My tutoring is structured, supportive, and exam-smart. I follow a clear step-by-step process to ensure progress. I start with a diagnosis to identify your specific strengths and learning gaps. I use visual models and worked examples to break complex ideas into manageable steps. All lessons are tailored to your specific exam board, whether that is AQA, Edexcel, OCR, or IB. I focus on command words, mark-scheme awareness, and exam technique. I also explicitly teach the mathematical foundations required for Physics and Computer Science, such as algorithms, algebra, and unit conversions. We use targeted questioning and past-paper practice to move knowledge into your long-term memory.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Gothenburg and a PGCE from the University of Chichester. My professional background includes current classroom teaching of Physics and Computer Science at secondary and college levels. I have also served as a University Teaching Assistant leading undergraduate maths problem classes and as a board member of a tutoring organisation where I delivered revision lectures for upper-secondary mathematics.
WHO THE LESSONS ARE FOR
I work with a wide range of learners across different stages. For Physics and Computer Science, I support students from secondary levels through to A-level and IB. For Mathematics, I assist secondary pupils, A-level students, and university or adult learners.
LESSON LENGTH
Lessons usually last between 60 and 120 minutes. This allows enough time for a retrieval starter, the introduction of new concepts, and scaffolded practice. Each session ends with a reflection and a short, purposeful task to maintain momentum before our next meeting.
