About Sarah

Hello, I’m Ms Barnes, a qualified primary school teacher with QTS and several years of experience teaching children from Reception through to Year 6. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked in a variety of educational settings, including mainstream primary schools, independent schools and specialist support environments, giving me experience working with children with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.

I have a particular passion for helping children develop confidence in their learning. Some of the most rewarding moments in teaching come from seeing a child realise that they are capable of achieving something they previously found difficult, whether that’s mastering a maths concept, improving their reading fluency or gaining confidence in their writing.

I believe every child can make progress when they feel supported, understood and challenged at the right level. My aim is to create a positive learning experience that helps children not only improve academically but also develop a greater belief in their own abilities.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy baking, creative hobbies and spending time outdoors with my black rescue cat, Evie, who is often found supervising from the nearest sunny spot!

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each child’s individual needs, strengths and learning style. I begin by identifying what a pupil can already do confidently and where they would benefit from additional support, allowing me to create lessons that are engaging, achievable and appropriately challenging.

As a qualified primary school teacher with 4 years experience teaching from Reception through to Year 6, I understand how children develop and learn at different stages of their education. I use a range of teaching strategies, practical activities and carefully selected resources to help children develop both their skills and confidence. Whether a child needs support with phonics, reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematics or SATs preparation, lessons are designed to be positive, encouraging and focused on making meaningful progress.

I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, so I work hard to create a supportive environment where pupils can build confidence alongside their academic skills. Regular feedback is provided so that both children and parents can clearly see the progress being made.

My aim is not only to improve attainment, but also to help children become confident, independent learners who enjoy their education and feel proud of their achievements.
