About Mark
I am a qualified Primary School Teacher who graduated with distinction from my PGCE course at Manchester Metropolitan University after completing my degree in Classics at St. Andrews University in Scotland. I have taught for over 6 years in an OFSTED Outstanding Rated School in Bolton. I have worked as a class teacher in Years 4 and 5 and was the Maths Co-ordinator within school responsible for directing and developing Maths learning. In addition to this, I held a TLR role (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) for English Grammar which is a senior role within the school responsible for developing the subject knowledge of other teachers. I also led regular staff meetings and training sessions on core curriculum subjects. I was also charged with guiding and mentoring newly-qualified teachers and providing them with support as they developed in their roles as class teachers.
My subject knowledge in Primary Maths and English is a strong point and I have always used this as the basis of my teaching. I am fully aware of the requirements of the Primary Curriculum and would be eager to help your child develop in any of my specialist areas. I regard myself as friendly yet professional and pride myself on having excellent working relationships with both children and parents. I am also available to support your children with their homework either during the week or on Sundays as I understand this can place a heavy time demand on busy parents.
