About Rachel
A little about me…
- The majority of my school-based teaching experience was teaching Years 5 and 6, including seven years as a key stage two phase leader.
- Prior to this, I spent two and a half years teaching English in South Korea. This was primarily to primary-aged children, yet also including a year in a foreign language High School and 8 months of adult conversational classes.
- I have a BSc (Hons) Applied Ecology.
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
- Enhanced DBS.
- I am a mum of one lovely six-year-old boy who keeps me active!
- Most of my free time is spent hanging out with my family, playing outside together and gaming.
- I also enjoy swimming, cycling and cake!

I am a highly experienced KS2 teacher with over 16 years in the classroom, now offering personalised one-to-one tutoring designed around children's individual needs. I understand that every child learns differently, which is why I take the time to explain concepts in ways that truly make sense to them—at their own pace and in a style that builds confidence. By linking learning to children's specific interests, I help keep them engaged, motivated, and enjoying their progress. Whether your child needs support catching up, boosting confidence, or being gently challenged, I provide a calm, supportive environment where they can thrive and achieve their potential.
A typical lesson will incorporate:
- A review of previous learning.
- Introduction of new learning and associated skills.
- Practice of those skills in isolation.
- Identifying and using the skills in context.
- Review of the learning and challenge (if appropriate).
All lessons are personalised and therefore offer plenty of opportunities for discussion, addressing of misconceptions and challenge.
