About Rifah Tasnia

Hi, my name is Rifah, and I’m a postgraduate student at the Australian National University. I have a strong background in mathematics, statistics, and economics, and years of experience teaching and supporting my peers and students. I want to teach because I know how powerful it feels when a difficult concept finally makes sense, and I enjoy helping others reach that moment of clarity and confidence. As a student myself, I understand the pressures learners face, and I’m motivated to create a supportive, encouraging environment where learning is less stressful and more rewarding. I aim to help my students not just improve their grades but also master the cognitive exercises that make studies exciting!

About the lesson

In my tutoring, I use diagnostic questioning to identify each student’s strengths and gaps, then break concepts into clear, step-by-step explanations followed by guided practice. I encourage students to “think aloud” so I can understand their reasoning, and I always ask them to focus on why and how rather than memorising without understanding. To reinforce learning, I provide regular feedback, short review questions, and summary notes, while adapting my pace to each learner. My approach is built on patience, encouragement, and ensuring students leave every lesson with greater clarity and confidence.

A typical lesson lasts 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s preference and learning goals. Sessions are structured around a balance of concept review, practice exercises, and reflection.

I am a postgraduate student at the Australian National University, specialising in economics with advanced training in maths and statistics. I graduated with 96% overall in my undergraduate degree and currently maintain over 90% at ANU. I have extensive experience in both formal and informal tutoring: I taught as an Academic Instructor at Bidyabaich and 10 Minute School, South Asia’s leading EdTech platform, and have also informally tutored students in maths and related subjects throughout high school and undergrad.

My lessons are for students in years 6–12 and university undergraduates, whether they are aiming to strengthen basics, prepare for exams, or master advanced topics.
