About Paul

I have a wide range of experience dealing with young people, some who have English as a second language, learning disabilities, behavioural, emotional and social difficulties; helping them overcome barriers and promoting a smooth transition through the school year groups and into adult life.

I have had positive experiences working with young people throughout my teaching career and I am committed to encouraging and motivating students to help raise aspirations and academic standards.

I have always been passionate about working with young people, and as such, this has become a cornerstone of my working life.

For the past five years, I have worked as a professionally qualified and outstanding practitioner; teaching mathematics in an Emirati girls’ school in Ajman, to motivate and inspire students in grades 11 and 12. I possess excellent teaching, learning and behavioural management strategies to help students fulfil their full potential. I am able to bring ideas, energy and enthusiasm to teaching and I have always had a commitment to raising attainment. I have always strived to create a stimulating and positive learning environment. I possess excellent subject knowledge and a real enthusiasm; I continually endeavour to seek out new approaches to learning through new media, such as the internet. I have always strived to maintain high standards of discipline.

Previous to this, I taught mathematics for eighteen years in an inner city secondary school in the United Kingdom.

About the lesson

I posses a strong, positive and confident nature. I am able to plan, prioritise and organise. I have excellent written and oral communication skills; these have enabled me to build positive relationships with other professionals, students and parents.

I have tutored the students for college and university entrance exams, and for the newly created EmSAT. I have experience of teaching the Edexcel Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 Mathematics Functional Skills certification courses, the Adult Literacy and Numeracy (ALAN) course and the ECDL Foundation’s certification programme.
