About Christian

I’m a secondary maths teacher with a PGCE qualification, currently starting at Henry Beaufort School in Winchester. I tutor GCSE students because I know how isolating maths can feel when something doesn’t click—especially when you’re juggling multiple subjects and trying to prepare for exams.

I came into teaching through a background in Data Science and AI, which gives me a deeper appreciation for why maths matters and how it connects to the real world. But more importantly, it’s taught me that maths isn’t about being ‘naturally gifted’—it’s about understanding concepts at the right pace, in the right way.

I work one-to-one with students to fill gaps, build confidence, and develop strategies that actually make sense. Every student learns differently, and my job is to find what works for you, not force you into a one-size-fits-all approach. I genuinely enjoy seeing that moment when something clicks—that’s what keeps me doing this.

About the lesson

1. Recap & Check-in — We start by reviewing what we covered in the previous session and looking at any maths work you’ve done at school recently. This helps me understand what’s clicked and where you might need more support.

2. Focused Learning — Depending on where you are in the curriculum, we either:

• Work on mastery practice of topics you learned in class approximately 2 months ago (spacing out revision to lock in long-term retention), or
• Address current topics from school that you’ve missed or found difficult, clarifying misunderstandings before they become bigger gaps.

3. Reflection & Planning — We finish by reviewing how the session went, what you’ve learned, and what we’ll focus on next time. This helps you stay in control of your progress.

The goal throughout is building genuine understanding and exam confidence, not just getting through past papers.
