About Elizabeth
I am an ex-broadcast journalist, professional musician and qualified teacher with more than 10 years of experience teaching English and music, up to GCSE and A-level. I have taught online, in mainstream schools and as a 1:1 tutor.
I trained at one of the top state schools in Hampshire and am TESOL qualified. I have taught 2668 online English lessons 1:1 (yes, really!) to students aged 7-16 years in Hong Kong and China.
I hold a Bachelors degree in music (classical voice at Trinity College of Music) and prior to my teacher training, I had a career in broadcast journalism, working as a radio news reporter, producer and presenter.

I offer a professional and friendly tutoring service in English language and literature, from KS2 up to GCSE, and also music up to GCSE.
I believe in students learn best when they discover answers for themselves, so use lots of reflective questioning and provide personalized learning to help students achieve their goals, improve their subject ability and self-confidence.
Homework will be set as appropriate, and I will support students with their planning, time-management and study skills.
We can:
- improve creative-writing and essay-writing skills
- practice reading, phonics, grammar and spelling
- discuss text meaning in set literature and poetry
- practice exam-style questions to improve marks!

Details
Lessons last for 55 mins and start from £25, either online via Zoom or in-person (COVID regulations allowing).
