You found me for a reason.
You left Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe — or wherever home is — and you are raising your children in a British school system that nobody fully explained to you. You go to parents' evenings and smile and nod. You check the school report and the grades look fine — until the GCSE results arrive and you wonder what happened or your child is placed in a set you are not pleased with.

My name is Tobi. I am a Nigerian-born educator with nearly 15 years of experience in teaching, school leadership, and curriculum design. I work specifically with Black African and Caribbean diaspora families whose children are in UK schools.
What makes me different from every other tutor on this platform:
I do not just teach the subject. I teach your child and I help them interpret and navigate the system. In every session, the academic content and the school-system knowledge go together.

Here is what that looks like in practice:
Your child works through English with me — curriculum-aligned, exam-focused, gap-closing.
I decode what their predicted grades actually mean, and what needs to be done.
I explain how GCSE mark schemes work — and why a child can "know" the content and still lose marks (this is what I call the mark loss gap, and it is costing your child grades right now).
My background:
I hold a strong academic and professional track record in education spanning Nigeria and the UK. I have worked with homeschooling families, elite private school students, and IGCSE candidates. I am deeply familiar with both the British curriculum and the African parenting context — which means I understand your child from the inside out.
I teach online, which means I can reach your family wherever you are in the UK.
My sessions are not a revolving door. I invest in families, not just lessons. When you book with me, you are getting an educator who will remember your child's name, their weak spots, and their goals — session after session.

I use a three-layer approach in every session:
1.I believe my work is only done when my student has truly internalised a concept. To help achieve that, I use tailored learning materials such as videos, virtual whiteboards, games, and interactive slides to make learning active, engaging, and deeply understood
2. Exam technique second. Understanding the content is not enough. I teach children how examiners think, what marking points look like, and how to write answers that earn full marks — not partial credit.
3. Confidence third. Many diaspora children carry the pressure of being their family's hope. I name that pressure, manage it, and channel it into focused academic performance.
I work online via Zoom or Google Meet, using tailored resources. I do not use generic worksheets — everything I use is built for your child's specific needs.
