About Catalina

I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language for more than 10 years, delivering lessons at secondary schools, academies and private tuition to learners of primary, secondary and university. My teaching has yielded successful results and motivated hundreds of students to continue learning English and to upgrade their professional careers.

I am a qualified EFL teacher, qualified English-Spanish translator, native speaker of Spanish, fluent in Portuguese and creative writer. I also lived in the USA, Brazil, Argentina and now I am living in London, UK.

I am a passionate teacher who is committed to build communicative bridges between cultures and promote respect and care for all beings and the environment, encouraging creativity, curiosity, imagination and autonomy.

About the lesson

I teach English as a Foreign Language to beginner, intermediate and advance levels, covering all 4 language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

I plan the lessons in a personalized way, using a combination of guide books and authentic resources in oral and written forms, considering every learner's needs. Either they need to master a particular skill or topic for school, college examinations, work, travel or just for fun.

I approach each topic in a communicative way, by creating a context where the learner will interact with new pieces of discourse in English, from which he/she will discover new patterns of the language, make connections with background knowledge, learn the pronunciation of new words, reflect upon new grammar rules, put the new language into use and share his/her production later on. This way, the new and the previous knowledge are being recycled during the whole learning experience.
