About Nicole

Hello | Kia Ora,

My name is Nicole Reeve. Originally from Aotearoa New Zealand, I moved to the United Kingdom in 2019 with my husband to pursue our dream to travel the world.

Before we get into the nitty gritty a little bit about who I am (teaching is just a fraction of what makes me tick!) . . . travelling has taken over my life since moving to the Northern Hemisphere, cooking and baking is my everyday passion, nature and the outdoors grounds me, I love reading and watching documentaries of the true crime / thriller nature, and something all of my students know : green is my favourite colour.

About the lesson

Lessons will last 50-60 minutes and are targeted at KS3 science or GCSE foundation science students.

I have been teaching for 10 years and qualified with my Master in Teaching and Learning at Massey University (NZ). I am fully qualified to teach in both NZ and the UK - holding full / QTS registration status. I hold enhanced DBS on the update service.
I spent about eight years working in secondary school classrooms teaching Mathematics, Health, and Food & Nutrition (more on how I have been able to teach in all those subjects below!). During my time in the classroom, I also worked as the Assistant Head of Department (Mathematics) and Subject Lead (Food & Nutrition) in two of my schools respectively.

I have now transitioned into Alternative Provision education. As an AP Teacher, I have had the pleasure of working 1:1 with students who are not currently attending school due to SEN or SEMH needs. With these students, I have taught across the core curriculum (Mathematics, English, and Science) at both KS3 and GCSE level.

Prior to qualifying as a teacher, I completed a Bachelor and Postgraduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science. Through my academic pathway, I am qualified to teach in the fields of Health, Food & Nutrition, Mathematics, and Science - I know it sounds like a lot but it is the lovely nature of integrated curriculum!

I am a fun and bubbly educator who likes to ensure that students are eager to learn alongside me. A huge part of my approach to teaching is building a positive rapport with students, figuring out their strengths and weaknesses, and making a plan from there. I love to utilise visual and hands-on methods of learning that help students make connections quickly.
