I am a passionate and dedicated maths teacher who enjoys helping students build confidence and achieve their potential. I want to teach maths because I love making challenging concepts accessible, inspiring problem-solving skills, and helping students develop a positive attitude towards mathematics.

About the lesson

I am a QTS-qualified Mathematics teacher offering calm, structured and personalised tuition for pupils in Years 5–9. I support KS2 Maths and SATs preparation, 11+ Maths, the transition from primary to secondary school and KS3 Maths.

Over the past two years, I have taught Mathematics across Years 7–11 and supported pupils as a Year 7 form tutor. This gives me a strong understanding of the knowledge, confidence and learning habits pupils need to succeed at secondary school and build secure foundations for GCSE study.

My lessons begin with the individual pupil. I identify their current understanding, any gaps or misconceptions and the areas in which they may lack confidence. I then explain concepts clearly, break unfamiliar problems into manageable steps and provide carefully sequenced practice that helps pupils become increasingly independent.

For pupils in Years 5–6, I focus on strengthening arithmetic, numerical reasoning and problem-solving, including preparation for SATs and 11+ Maths. I also help pupils prepare for the pace, language and greater independence expected at secondary school. For pupils in Years 7–9, lessons can address specific curriculum gaps, reinforce classroom learning or provide appropriate challenge beyond the school curriculum.

My experience of 11+ preparation is also personal. I supported my own daughter with her Maths preparation, helping her strengthen her numerical reasoning, accuracy and approach to unfamiliar questions. She went on to pass the 11+, giving me first-hand insight into both the academic preparation involved and the encouragement children need throughout the process.

My approach is calm, patient and encouraging, while maintaining clear expectations and purposeful lessons. I adapt the pace, explanations and activities to suit different levels of confidence and ability, including pupils with additional learning needs.

Parents receive clear and constructive updates on their child’s progress, current priorities and useful practice between lessons.
