About Steph Renee

Stephanie Scherer holds master's in English from Bucknell University and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a BA summa cum laude in English Literature and German Studies from Bucknell. She is an experienced proofreader and editor, who has assisted with manuscripts across subject matters ranging from poetics to cognitive theories of reading to business strategy. She has published a co-authored essay in the journal Atlantic Studies, contributed blog posts on Special Collections research at UPenn's Kislak Center, and dabbled in the world of podcast editing and sound engineering. Fluent in German and proficient in French, she enjoys helping students learn these languages and understand multilingual material. She has extensive experience with manuscript revision, research collation, and citation management. Throughout her graduate studies, she was a teacher of writing and criticism, and she thrives on encouraging and supporting creators at every stage of a project. She immensely enjoys collaboration and believes that, when it comes to tackling the devil in the details, it’s always advisable to have backup.

About the lesson

My ultimate motivation as an educator is to empower learners to achieve their goals and inspire them to view educational challenges as fun and rewarding with the right support. I have over 5 years of experience teaching and tutoring at the collegiate level, in classes for the core curriculum and writing centers, including seminars of my own design. I believe that it is crucial to assess every student on their own merits, personalities, learning styles, and goals in order to develop a structured plan to help them succeed. In an increasingly digital and AI-driven world, it remains essential to be able to write and communicate effectively and to translate our knowledge into words. Expanding vocabulary, sharpening syntax, and improving grammatical acumen are still incalculably valuable skills to hone for any student, no matter their age. And that's where I can come in to help!
