I am a dedicated Public Health major with extensive experience in tutoring and mentoring through my role as an English and Math tutor at Kumon North America. With a strong background in education, I have guided students across multiple levels, helping them develop independent learning skills, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
My diverse educational and professional background in public health, emergency medical services, and tutoring allows me to offer real-world applications of science and healthcare, making complex topics more relatable and engaging for students. I aim to break down difficult subjects into digestible parts to foster a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.
I employ a student-centered approach to tutoring, focusing on individual needs and adapting my methods to best support the student's learning style. I believe in guiding students through active learning, encouraging them to think critically and solve problems independently. I use a combination of conceptual understanding and practical application, where I ensure students grasp the theory before applying it through exercises or real-world scenarios.
I typically teach K-12, but depending on the coursework, I am willing to teach college algebra and pre-calculus as well!
A typical lesson plan is about an hour and looks like the following:

Introduction to New Topic (10-15 minutes)
Interactive Practice (20-30 minutes)
Discussion/Real-World Application (10-15 minutes):
