About Fiona

I am a Psychology graduate currently working in private healthcare, with a strong interest in communication, behaviour and child development. I am passionate about working with children and would love to apply my skills and understanding in a tutoring environment, helping each child build confidence and reach their potential.

Having experienced my own challenges at school, I understand how important the right support, encouragement and guidance can be. My journey has shown me that with the right approach, every child has the ability to progress and achieve more than they may initially believe possible. I want to help children recognise their strengths, overcome challenges and develop a positive attitude towards learning. I believe that sometimes, all a child needs is someone who believes in them, understands how they learn and gives them the encouragement to succeed.

All children learn differently, so my key focus would be to understand each child’s personality, interests and individual learning needs, and use these to shape my lessons.

For example, my nephew has ADHD, which has taught me the importance of adapting my approach to keep him engaged. I have developed ways of learning that work best for him, from the language I use to matching my energy to his needs and keeping lessons interactive and enjoyable.

This experience has strengthened my understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning. I am passionate about creating a supportive environment where every child feels encouraged and motivated to learn, while helping them reach their full potential. I believe it is important to recognise each child’s abilities and work closely with their parents to support their progress and help them achieve what they are capable of.
