About Michael

Hi, I’m Michael — a London-based rock and metal guitarist with 19 years of playing experience. I started with a year of formal lessons before becoming largely self-taught, developing my skills through years of dedicated practice and playing in two bands, both during school and beyond.

Alongside my background as a guitarist, I’m a former teacher and have experience supporting music therapy in an SEN school. This combination of teaching experience and a lifelong passion for guitar naturally led me into tutoring, where I focus on helping students learn in a structured, supportive, and enjoyable way.

My teaching style is patient, disciplined, and encouraging, with a strong emphasis on building confidence and creativity. I want students to feel excited about learning, confident in their progress, and genuinely enjoy playing their favourite songs. While I teach students of all ages and abilities, I’m especially well-suited to those interested in rock and metal who want to jam, play the music they love, and develop a long-term relationship with the guitar.

About the lesson

My guitar lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, ability, and musical interests. With 19 years of playing experience, I focus on building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons practical, engaging, and music-focused. My teaching approach blends technique, rhythm training, and real song application, ensuring students understand not just what to play, but why they’re playing it.

Lessons are available in 30-minute or 60-minute formats, depending on your learning style and availability. I teach students of all ages and skill levels — from complete beginners picking up a guitar for the first time to more advanced players looking to refine technique, or improve confidence and creativity.

My goal is to make learning guitar structured, enjoyable, and sustainable, helping each student progress at a pace that works for them while developing solid, long-term skills.
