About Ellie

I’ve studied Psychology and Criminology at university and am now working full-time while continuing to pursue my passion for teaching and helping others learn. Throughout my time at university, I balanced my studies with a range of part-time jobs—from working in food service to roles in care—so I understand how busy life can get and how important it is to have flexible, supportive learning. Alongside my academic experience, I’ve worked as a teaching assistant, supporting students with special educational needs and providing tailored support in class. This has given me valuable insight into different learning styles and how best to adapt my teaching to meet each student’s needs. Outside of tutoring, I’m very active and love spending time outdoors. I enjoy going to the gym, running, walking my dogs, and spending quality time with my family and friends. I believe in creating a calm, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and confident in their abilities. I’m here to support you every step of the way—whether you're preparing for exams, trying to grasp tricky topics, or just want to improve your confidence in Psychology or Criminology.

As a tutor in Psychology and Criminology, my approach is centred around building a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring complex ideas. I aim to make lessons both informative and relatable, helping students connect academic content to real-life situations and examples. This not only aids understanding but also improves long-term retention of the material. Techniques and Teaching Methodology: My teaching style is student-focused and adaptable to individual learning needs. I prioritise clarity and comprehension, breaking down difficult theories and concepts into manageable parts. I also use real-world examples to contextualise the content, which helps students grasp abstract ideas more easily. Where appropriate, I incorporate active learning techniques such as discussion, short activities, and revision games to keep students engaged and reinforce key concepts. My goal is always to reduce pressure, build confidence, and ensure that students leave each session with a stronger understanding than when they arrived. Typical Length of a Lesson: My lessons typically last between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the student’s needs and focus levels. I find that this length allows enough time to cover content thoroughly while also reviewing and applying it without overwhelming the student. Qualifications and Experience: I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Criminology. During my time at university, I worked part-time as a teaching assistant, where I supported students with special educational needs and helped teachers provide extra academic support to those who needed it. This experience taught me how to adapt my approach for different learning styles and needs, ensuring each student feels supported and understood. Who the Lessons Are For: My lessons are suitable for secondary school and college-level students (typically aged 15 and up) who are studying Psychology or Criminology. Whether they need support with coursework, exam preparation, or just want to deepen their understanding, I tailor my sessions to their academic level and goals.
