About Lucy

Hi, I’m Lucy! I’m a qualified secondary teacher with five years of experience working with students across a range of year levels and abilities.

I’m passionate about helping students feel more confident with their learning, particularly in English, literacy, essay writing, comprehension and Humanities. My approach is calm, supportive and practical. I like to break things down into simple steps, use clear examples and work at a pace that suits each student.

As a classroom teacher, I have plenty of experience supporting students who find school challenging, as well as students who simply want to improve their grades or feel more prepared for assessments. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons around their individual needs and goals.

My aim is to make tutoring feel relaxed and achievable while still giving students the skills and strategies they can take back into the classroom.

About the lesson

I am a qualified secondary teacher with five years of classroom experience, specializing in English and Humanities across Years 7–10. My teaching style is supportive, practical and tailored to each student’s needs.

My Approach:
- Breaking difficult skills into clear, manageable steps
- Use worked examples, scaffolds, and model responses.
- Guided, collaborative practice to build confidence.
- Writing structures to improve essay quality.
- A variety of task styles to improve comprehension, reading and grammar skills.

Lessons
- 60 minutes, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on the student’s age and needs.
- Best suited to students in Years 5–10 who need support with English, literacy, essay writing, and reading comprehension

I hold a Bachelor of Education and have extensive experience teaching and supporting students with a wide range of abilities. I regularly design curriculum, assessment preparation, revision activities and differentiated learning resources.
