About Joanne
Hello! My name is Joanne Pope. If you are reading this I want to thank you for considering learning English with me! I took a course offered by the TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) Academy and became certified to teach English as a foreign language. It is important that I meet my students where they are, listen to what they need, and provide them with the instruction that will have them speaking and understanding English as quickly and effectively as possible.

I use a mix of different teaching methods and techniques based on my students' needs. I might use some Grammar Translation but most of the time I will use the Direct Method, by associating words with pictures or objects.The Direct method allows for the session to be taught in the target language, English. This method also promotes a lot of learning in short timeframes. I will also incorporate the Natural Approach, which involves listening and comprehension, and the Communicative Approach,which encourages using English during the entire session.
Whatever approach or method used it will always be tailored to the needs of the student. Oh- did I mention we will also have fun?
