About Kate
I love working with individuals and deciphering their individual needs and moulding a suitable approach by getting to know them. No session is the same for each person! My sessions are fun, informative, friendly and confidence-boosting. I have a vast amount of experience in many fields of the arts, and this helps shape a well-rounded and extremely enriching session for my students.

I am an award-winning composer, musical director, sound designer writer, vocal coach and performer in theatre, music and TV. I gained a music degree with a Composition major from King’s College London, and a post-graduate degree from Royal Academy of Music in Musical Theatre. I was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2018. I was the 2018-19 Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer at Lyric Hammersmith. I have worked extensively alongside world-renowned theatres, organisations and music artists on their work in music, theatre and TV. These include National Theatre, CBeebies, Irish Arts Center New York, Lyric Hammersmith, Karl Hyde (Underworld), Frantic Assembly, DV8, Ballet Rambert, Pet Shop Boys, Kele Okereke (Bloc Party). My performance credits include, War Horse (National Theatre) and The Human Comedy (Young Vic). My approach to singing teaching focuses on finding your own voice, and moulding bespoke vocal techniques to your needs. I offer a holistic and encouraging approach, and believe that good singing and performance teaching starts from the inside out. We also look at performance approaches to songs and storytelling, establishing authentic connection to your material. I coached singing and acting-through-song for many years at LAMDA and various other performance arts academies. I teach songwriting. I regularly lead masterclasses for adults on Songwriting at City Academy. I draw from my composition background in classical music, and also my creative background in writing for music and theatre industries, plus my close experience of working with leading music artists. I can also teach general music, and have taught GCSE & A Level Composition and Singing at schools.
