About Julie
Hi! I'm Julie Zhang, I am a British Chinese pianist born and raised in London, moved to Manchester! I am currently doing my undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music with a scholarship after studying at Chetham's School of Music for a decade.
I have devoted my life to music and have been playing and loving piano ever since I was 5 years old. I have also had 13 years of concert experience around the UK, examples include giving my first full solo 90-minute recital in 2024 and my orchestral debut with Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra playing Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini in 2025. Apart from solo repertoire, I also enjoy playing chamber music with a great passion and have had 2 years of teaching experience. I can teach in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
My qualifications include ATCL, LTCL and FTCL diplomas with distinction (Trinity College London) at ages 10, 11 and 14.

For me, piano isn’t simply about learning the notes on the page — it’s about discovering your own musical voice, expressing emotions and finding genuine joy in making music. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience that feeling.
As a teacher, I’m patient, encouraging and passionate, and I always aim to tailor my lessons to each individual student. Whether you’re a complete beginner, preparing for an exam, learning pieces you love, or simply looking to become more confident at the piano, I want every lesson to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. My aim is to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, challenging yourself and, most importantly, enjoying your progress!
I hope to inspire as many people as possible to discover their own love for the piano and to express themselves through music with confidence, creativity and individuality!
