About Anna

I have been playing the piano for 17 years, holding Grade 8 ABRSM with distinction and Grade 5 Music Theory (96%). I have recently graduated with a 1st Class (Hons) from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts on their Actor Musician course, and am currently balancing auditioning and performing with work as a teaching assistant in primary schools across London, one-to-one teaching and leading performing arts and music classes and children's parties.

As well as performance, I have several years' experience in composing, music theory and integrating music with theatre and other art forms and fields. I believe it is important to engage with as many genres of music as possible and so as well as a strong classical background I am a confident musician in all areas including jazz, pop, musical theatre and folk.

I love teaching as I am passionate about sharing my own skills, knowledge and experience to help as many people as possible engage in the arts. Music is an activity which engages all parts of the brain - meaning playing an instrument provides you with a whole brain workout!

I am experienced in teaching all ages but I have a particular interest (and patient approach!) in working with children and young people at the start of their musical journey.

I also hold current Enhanced DBS and Child Safeguarding certificates.

About the lesson

I aim to provide a supportive and encouraging atmosphere and tailor lessons to suit the needs and goals of the student.

For younger students I use a range of highly creative approaches to engage students in music-making whilst stimulating expression and musicality and building technique right from the start, to ensure a solid foundation for wherever they choose to take their playing. Playing a musical instrument is an invaluable gift to give a child - allowing them to explore their creativity and develop a positive emotional outlet whilst helping them to develop discipline and the rewards of a regular practice routine.

Whether you are interested in working towards playing your favourite songs or having a thorough understanding of music theory and classical technique, I will work with you to help you get the most out of your lessons. I provide a highly personal, tailored approach where the student really is in charge of their own goals and aspirations.

I can help you to develop technique and performance skills as well as musicality and expression, and am experienced in working towards ABRSM and LCM Musical Theatre examinations if you are interested in working towards qualifications or awards.
