BRIEF BIODATA OF SWAR SHREE SMT. VEENA MARDUR
Smt. Veena Mardur is one of the famous Hindustani Classical Vocalist in India.
Born in Dharwad, Karnataka a Pilgrimage place for Music. The soil of Dharwad has given many dignitaries for Hindustani Classical Music like; Padmavibhusan Dr.Gangubai Hangal, the doyens Padmavibhushan Dr.Mallikarjun Mansurji, the Crown of Hindustani classical Music Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, and Padmabhushan Pt. Basavraj Rajguruji, and the great legendry Pt. Kumar Gandharva.
From the tender age of eight (8) she was trained in Kirana Gharana under the tutelage of her father Kalashringa Pt. Somanath Mardur (disciple of Pt. Veerappayya Swamiji, Ubhayagana Visharad Padmabhushan Dr. Pt. Puttaraj Gawaiji, Padmabhushan Dr. Pt. Basavaraj Rajguruji, Padmavibhushan Dr. Pt. Mallikarjun Mansurji).
She inherits a very sweet, melodious, powerful voice and has mastered the “Kirana Gharana” gayaki style which is famous for its Swar and laya Pradhan.
She has received her “GOLD medal” in M.A. and B.A. music from Karnataka University Dharwad. Sangeet Visharad from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidhyalaya. She stood first rank in Sangeet Vidwat of Karnataka Secondary Board.
She is an empanelled artist of ICCR. ICCR has deputed her to China, the Indian Embassy Beijing for teaching and performance for 3 years. She has been singing in Akashwani and also on Doordarshan since a long time. She is giving public programs in all over India and abroad. She has ability to withhold the masses with full interest and applaud during her performance as vocalist.ACHIEVEMENT:
She is a founder of MMF (Mardur Music Foundation Pune 2018).
AIR and Doordarshan approved artist in Hindustani Classical Music - vocal.
YUVA KALAKAR award in 1989 – Tontadarya Math Gadag by Padmavibhushan Dr.Mallikarjun Mansur.
TAMANKAR Award of Hangal Music Foundation, Hubli by Padmavibhushan Dr.Gangubai Hangal.
SWARASHREE Award in 1997 – Veerashaiva Samanvaya Samiti Bangalore.
YUVA PRATIBHA PURASKAR in 2002 of Sharan Sahitya Parishad Bangalore.
