About Gracie
My name is Gracie, and I am a dedicated 5th grade ELA teacher who is passionate about helping students grow as readers and writers. I bring real classroom experience, strong instructional skills, and a calm, supportive presence that helps students feel comfortable taking risks and building confidence. I believe every child can succeed when they are given clear guidance, encouragement, and strategies that make learning feel manageable.
I have experience working with a wide range of learners, including students who need step-by-step structure, high-energy students who benefit from movement-based activities, and those who simply need extra practice to feel secure in their skills. My background in teaching reading comprehension, writing development, grammar, and test preparation allows me to create lessons that are both engaging and effective.

As a tutor, I focus on building confident, capable readers and writers through clear instruction, structured practice, and strategies that truly stick. My approach blends the techniques I use every day as a 5th grade ELA teacher with the individualized support students need to grow at their own pace.
I begin each lesson with a quick check‑in or warm‑up to see what the student already knows and where they may need support. From there, I introduce the skill of the day using simple explanations, modeling, and examples. Students then practice the skill through guided activities, followed by independent work that allows me to assess their understanding. Every session ends with a brief reflection so students can recognize their progress and set goals for next time.

I have experience working with high‑energy learners, students who need movement or hands‑on tasks, and those who benefit from step‑by‑step structure.
