About Elizabeth
I was an elementary school teacher for 13 years and I have a degree in early childhood education. I have taught in public schools within the states of Georgia and South Carolina. I am currently a virtual reading tutor and have had a variety of students who range in ages Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

My teaching approach is to use an EATS lesson format. I “Engage” with students by using an “Activating” strategy (a hook) or to check background knowledge, make connections with what they already know and can do, and then teach new content using a “Teaching” strategy with guided practice. Then, my student or students will independently practice and review new skills and content. Finally, we will “Summarize” new information and I will ask Higher-order thinking questions so that we can apply what we have learned.
I have found this format/method to be the most efficient way for me to teach and for my students to learn.
