About Rory
I have 8 years experience in the electric vehicle sector as a design engineer. This was supported by my Masters degree in Product Design & Manufacturing Engineering. I also have a diploma is Software Engineering.
My career in design started with designing electric transit vans which then developed into giant electric passenger carrying drones. I later went on to design large industrial recycling center machinery. And then most recently I have focused on writing software for 3D modelling programs and web based software applications.
All of my work is heavily based in mathematics and logical thinking. This has led me to tutoring. I hope I can listen to your logical thinking and help to add tools to your toolbelt.
I have taught university students to use CAD software for their Mechanical Engineering degrees and find the process of finding a solution together a seeing your flow improve after each lesson very rewarding.

Your lessons with me will centre around your own project or challenges depending on your level.
If it’s 3D modelling you need help with, we will screen share and work step by step through your challenge. I will be there to point you towards the correct functions, help to answer questions and suggest geometric approaches for constructing complex geometries. We can discuss design approaches and complex assemblies.
For product design or design & technology students our lessons will be lead by your needs. We will plan a path through your project with your strengths and weaknesses taken into consideration. Starting from concept creation, we can work through research, development, design, manufacture and even branding.
I spent 6 years in the electric vehicle industry designing and building electric aircraft. My experience in the professional world can help you on the path to creating your own beautiful considered designs. My aim is for you to feel proud of the result at the end of your project.

Rory is a wonderful teacher with a huge bank of experience in industry at a very sophisticated level. He is also exceptional for a tech-minded person in that he is quite gregarious and people-centred ie very friendly and empathetic
I think Rory is a great tutor, he’s incredibly patient and clear with his instructions. He’s able to empathise with where you are at and what is the best way for you to learn. He makes lessons interesting and the learning feels easy.
