About Gareth
I am a biologist, entrepreneur, conservationist and environmental consultant. I completed my PhD in Botany at Rhodes University and have since branched out into many different related fields. I have several years of tutoring and teaching experience at undergraduate level and have also recently taught high school biology and chemistry. I take good education very seriously as the learners of today will be the innovators of tomorrow thus it is a passion of mine to teach well, but also expand lessons into the real world and make use of different teaching styles.

My classes offer interesting, insightful teaching of biology covering various topics in the Biology curriculum. These include cell biology, Ecology, plant biology, and Zoology. I like to make students think about what they learn and particularly use real life examples to be able to apply your knowledge within the environment around you and not just textbook pictures and drawings. To achieve the best and most inclusive educational outcome, I like to make use of extra skills such as online teaching and technology as well as adding practical skill such as microscopy (particularly in cell biology). Typically my lessons are pased with the expected learning outcomes and cover a key concept per lesson.
