About Advitha

I’m a 3rd Year Medical Student at the University of Exeter with over three years of tutoring experience and a strong academic record, including a Dean’s Commendation (top 10%) and the highest SSC score in my year. I also achieved 44 points in the IB Diploma (top 1.1% worldwide).

I have delivered over 450 hours of private tutoring across a range of subjects, including secondary school and medical school entrance exams and GCSE subjects—primarily through online one-to-one sessions. This is separate from my informal teaching at medical school. I hold Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), a recognition of my teaching practice following five structured Neuroanatomy sessions I designed and delivered for medical students.

I’ve taught learners from school level to university level, helping students with entrance exams, GCSEs/IGCSEs, and advanced medical topics. I tutor:

About the lesson

My approach centres on helping students build strong conceptual understanding while developing the skills needed to tackle exam-style questions with confidence. I break down tricky and multi-step problems into clear, manageable stages, showing students how to think through a question rather than simply memorising methods.

We focus on:

- Strengthening understanding of core topics (algebra, geometry, number, graphs, probability, etc.)
- Learning step-by-step approaches for multi-stage and worded problems
- Building the ability to recognise question types quickly
- Developing efficient methods and avoiding common mistakes
- Using past papers to refine technique, timing, and accuracy

Lesson Format:

- An initial diagnostic task to identify strengths and weaknesses
- 60-minute lessons (flexible if needed)
- Clear explanation of concepts followed by guided practice
- Regular use of topic-specific questions and exam-style past papers
- Teaching students how to check their work and spot errors before they happen
- Review assessments every few weeks to monitor progress and consolidate learning
