About Nate
My background in music spans an eclectic cross section of genres and influences. Beginning as a violinist at the age of three, I spent many years studying classical elements of music while yearning for the instrument that would enable me to have a unique and authentic voice. Although my classical roots may have aided in my development as a musician, it wasn’t until I purchased my first electric guitar and discovered artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bon Jovi, and Eric Johnson that I felt like I had found my musical home. From marching band to Battle of the Bands and more, I’ve developed an insatiable thirst to explore this beautiful language and grow in my ability to communicate freely in any setting. As an instructor and partner in each student’s journey, it’s my goal to help those who study with me grow into confident, emotive musicians, eliminating barriers and simplifying the hows and whys of each topic.

I am passionate about helping students develop a strong understanding of the language of music. I believe that students can reach expressive musical freedom through a strong understanding of the basics of Music Theory, but that this process doesn't have to be as complex and confusing as more traditional classes and collegiate programs make it.
I'm a great teacher for those looking to dive deeper into both the mechanics of guitar playing--i.e. studying topics like left hand thumb placement, healthy technique development, etc.--and who want to know how to apply what they are learning to things such as songwriting.
I custom-tailor lesson plans to each student to best serve the goals of every individual. Music is a language and by growing familiar with its core principles we can take the same tools—applied in different settings—and expand our musicality across genres while developing our own unique voices.
I'm also passionate about the process of recording and the types of technology modern musicians often utilize, such as Amp Modelers and home recording equipment.
No matter your applied instrument or background, I would love the opportunity to partner in your musical development!

Nate is not only a an amazing musician and teacher but a wholesome and kind soul as well. He has the experience to teach but beyond that, and almost just as important to me, he is willing to work out a curriculum that caters to your needs and experience level. He willingly stepped slightly out of the box to teach me more about the production side of music because that was what I needed at the time. Reaching out with specific questions and examples to be sure he could provide the content I needed, he designed a program with plenty of flexibility to adjust as my needs changed and developed. He obviously met but also exceeded any expectations I had and continues to be available for any future questions, going above and beyond. I truly value everything he has taught me and the professional relationship he continues to maintain with me. I would recommend him highly to anyone willing to listen.
Nate explains the nuances of guitar like no other person I’ve met. He not only demystifies the applicable music theory concepts but also is a great guitar player himself. He is fully trustworthy as a teacher because he is able to put into practice and demonstrate what he teaches. I highly recommend Nate to anyone who is serious about wanting to fully understand how to make music.
