About Ava
I am a classically trained upright bass player by profession with more than 12 years of experience under my belt. I have performed and taught upright bass, electric bass, guitar, cello and piano. Due to my specialization in working with children and adults with learning disabilities, my work has led me to tutoring in English/Language Arts as well as music. I have been supporting students in their English studies for over 8 years and have had several students improve their reading and writing ability from being years behind other students their age to being able to keep up with regular classes- some even becoming top performers in their class! I love seeing improvement in my students and that is what drives me!

It is my philosophy that anyone can learn when given the proper tools and resources to do so. Many times, children and adults with learning disabilities get left behind by public schooling due to a lack of personalized education. By getting to know my students and building trust with them, I am able to identify the unique learning style and support them with resources created specifically for them.
