About Grace
Hello! I'm a senior at Princeton University in New Jersey who studies English with a 3.8+ GPA. As an English major, I've completed more essays than I can count (including an 80-page-long thesis), honed my skills on how to craft compelling arguments, and have also experienced pretty much every single struggle that can be borne of the writing process -- lack of inspiration, reluctance to write, running out of steam...
I've also tried many different techniques in order to combat each one, so I've got a ready supply of approaches to try that might help move the process along for you.
In particular, I understand that the writing required of supplements and personal statements feels especially daunting -- besides being incredibly personal and high-stakes, these are essays that aren't like the standard five-paragraph model taught in school! That's where I hope to step in: after successfully writing my own college applications for ~10 competitive colleges four years ago, I have also advised several students through the college essay/job search process, so I am familiar with decoding what each prompt is looking for and how to maximize your word count.

My goal is to break down the research and writing process into more approachable steps, to be a soundboard and filter for ideas, and to provide an additional supply of outside encouragement. The college application cycle can be grueling, so I look to provide personal and invested support during the process!
Besides college application essays, I can tutor your essay writing in general or edit class essays, cover letters, resumes, and job interview answers.
If you are in the planning stage, I will help brainstorm and develop possible ideas towrite about, based on your resume and what you share about your background and interests. If you have written work, I will look over drafts/ideas and give advice on areas to focus or edit. At every stage, I will advise on how to improve writing structure, craft, and style.
For college app essays, my approach focuses on ensuring that your personal statement combines with your activity list and supplements, so that they craft a holistic narrative together and can better demonstrate who you are.

As I offer a holistic and attentive editing & counseling service, the first hour will be free and works as a consultation for me to learn about your goals and stage in the application/writing process. I will give some preliminary advice, and outline what a next meeting with me would look like and accomplish. Further follow-up sessions will be $30 after.
