About Jessie
Hi, I’m Jessie! I’m a passionate primary educator who loves helping children develop confidence in themselves and their learning.
I hold a Bachelor of Educational Studies and am currently completing my Master of Teaching (Primary). I also work as a primary school teacher and have previous experience as a School Learning Support Officer, supporting students both one-on-one and in small intervention groups.
Working in schools has given me experience with a wide range of learners, including students who need additional support, students who lack confidence, and those who benefit from being challenged beyond their current level. I understand that every child learns differently, and I aim to create a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
I particularly enjoy teaching literacy and numeracy and have a strong interest in reading, writing and building foundational skills. My lessons are purposeful and curriculum-informed, but I also believe learning should be engaging and enjoyable.
As a teacher, I value patience, consistency and positive relationships. My goal is for students to finish each session not only understanding more than when they started, but also feeling more confident in what they are capable of achieving.

My approach to tutoring is centered around building confidence, positive relationships and making learning meaningful for each individual child. I believe children learn best when they feel supported, successful and comfortable making mistakes.
I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs, strengths and learning goals. I use explicit teaching, modeling, guided practice and hands-on activities, while adjusting my approach depending on how the student learns best. For younger students, I particularly enjoy incorporating play-based and engaging activities alongside structured literacy and numeracy instruction.
For literacy, I can support students with phonics, decoding, reading fluency, comprehension, spelling, vocabulary and writing. In numeracy, I focus on developing strong foundational skills and mathematical understanding rather than simply memorizing procedures.
Lessons are generally 45–60 minutes, depending on the student's age and needs.

My tutoring is suitable for primary-aged students from Kindergarten to Year 6, whether they need additional support, want to build their confidence, or would benefit from extension. Most importantly, I want students to leave tutoring feeling capable, encouraged and proud of their progress.
