I am an experienced primary teacher who has taught in the UK, South Africa and New Zealand. I have been teaching for 15 years. I am able to see potential and ensure I get the best out of each and every one of my students and do this is a positive and nurturing manner.

My philosophy is simple and one that has worked for me over my years of teaching. I believe that children need to learn in a safe and secure environment, a child cannot learn in fear. I do however believe that discipline is important but most importantly it is for the learner to learn self discipline. Children need to have boundaries and need to feel secure with boundaries.
Learning needs to be an open process and not one where it is totally teacher tell. Children learn through discovery and questioning and I encourage both in my classroom. Assessment of each learner as an individual and as a group is vital in teaching. I believe in routine but also being flexible enough to change with the needs of my learners.
As a teacher I feel that education is very important but I do believe that one has to have a holistic approach to education and teaching. I like to focus on my learners personality and see their personalities grow and the learners becoming more confident within themselves and with their fellow classmates. A good rapport with my learners is important and one that I treasure.
In order for a learner to succeed they need to feel valued, safe and secure and this is what I aim for and hope to achieve for each and every one of my learners.
