About Charlotte

Teaching is more than a job for me, it is ultimately a passion. I thrive on finding creative and engaging ways of teaching and learning. I have been teaching in primary school for four years and I am now eager to bring this enthusiasm to many pupils through tutoring on a one to one and small group basis building great rapport with pupils from all backgrounds and impact their lives and learning in a positive manner.

In 2016 I completed my primary education degree with QTS, my teaching practise was rated as outstanding. I undertook placements at three two-form entry schools, each with very different socio-economically diverse backgrounds. Upon completion of my third school placement in January 2013 at I was offered a paid PPA teaching role. For the duration of this employment, on a weekly basis, I covered reception, year 2 and year 6 whilst finishing my final term at University. During my NQT year I taught year 2, seeing them through SATs ensuring the children did not feel any pressure whilst completing their SATs and maintained an enjoyment of coming to school. This methodology was continued when I taught year 6 and also saw them through SATs with outstanding results across the board, including, maths, reading, writing and SPaG.
Additionally, I have had experience teaching years 3,4 and 5.

About the lesson

I am a calm, patient and attentive practitioner providing tutoring for children of primary school age (4-11). It is of the upmost importance to me to always put the pupil at the heart of the learning. It is imperative to me that I build a rapport with the learner in order for the individual/group to gain as much knowledge as they can from each session in a comfortable, safe environment.

My teaching method is based around the individual pupil, whether you are a visual, auditory or kinaesthetic learner I will adapt my lessons to suit your needs. Additionally, if the learner finds it easier to complete the session in one sitting or whether rest breaks are required the session can be catered to these needs.

Sessions are generally in the format of a starter, main teaching and plenary to end and/or mini plenaries throughout to address misconceptions or move the learning on quicker if need be. I am very adaptable in my approach to teaching and lessons can be adapted to move the learning on quickly or go over concepts that are taking a bit longer to understand.
