About Ciara
About Me
Hi! I'm Ciara, a Primary School Principal, qualified teacher, and mam of four. I understand that every child learns differently, and my goal is to help you feel confident, capable, and successful in your learning.
I love working with children and helping them discover that they can achieve more than they think. My lessons are friendly, supportive, and designed around your individual needs. Whether you need help with reading, writing, math, study skills, or simply building confidence in school, I'll work with you at your own pace and help you reach your goals.
Outside of school, I enjoy sports and staying active. I believe many of the skills we learn through sport—perseverance, teamwork, resilience, and self-belief—are just as important in learning. I encourage students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and celebrate progress along the way.
My aim is simple: to help you enjoy learning, grow in confidence, and achieve your full potential in a positive and encouraging environment.

My approach to tutoring is learner-centred, engaging, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. Drawing on my experience as a Primary School Principal and teacher, I use evidence-based teaching methodologies to build confidence, deepen understanding, and develop independent learning skills. Lessons are designed to be interactive and supportive, with a strong focus on student voice, active participation, and meaningful learning.
I incorporate best practice from the New Primary Curriculum Framework, using a range of strategies including explicit instruction, guided practice, problem-solving, questioning techniques, and hands-on learning activities. Where appropriate, I also integrate elements of Design Thinking and Entrepreneurial Education to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and resilience.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on the learner's age and needs.
I am a qualified primary teacher with extensive experience across mainstream and special education settings and currently serve as a Primary School Principal. I have particular expertise in literacy, numeracy, inclusive education, Project-Based Learning, Design Thinking, and Entrepreneurial Education. I also have experience supporting students with a range of additional educational needs.
My lessons are suitable for primary school pupils of all ages and abilities, including those requiring additional support, those seeking to improve confidence and attainment, and high-achieving students looking for additional challenge and enrichment. I work closely with families to ensure each student receives personalised support that helps them reach their full potential.
