About Sarah

Hello, I’m Sarah. I am a fully qualified teacher with over a decade of experience teaching children aged 4 to 11. I’ve worked across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and have held subject leadership roles in maths, music, art and modern foreign languages. I am passionate about helping children feel seen, supported and successful in their learning. My teaching style is calm, patient and highly individualised. I understand that every child is different, so I tailor my lessons to suit each learner’s pace, interests and needs. I have extensive experience supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD and trauma-related difficulties. I work hard to create a space where children feel safe and able to take learning risks without fear of getting things wrong. I hold a science specialism from my degree and have strong subject knowledge across the primary curriculum. I offer support in core subjects such as phonics, reading, writing and maths. I also provide structured, confidence-building preparation for Key Stage 1 and 2 SATs, as well as 11+ entrance exams. About the lesson

I offer practical, calm, child-led sessions for pupils who find traditional maths teaching tough. I work with ADHD, autism, anxiety, school avoidance and low confidence. What I offer • One-to-one maths support from early number to Year 6 • Hands-on teaching using playdough, numicon, base ten and whiteboards • Short tasks that remove pressure and build confidence • Simple strategies for times tables, place value and mental maths • Clear structure and plenty of breaks • Strong understanding of sensory needs and slow processing • Trauma-informed approach with no shame, no rushing and no forced eye contact How I teach • Breaks concepts into small steps • Use patterns and visuals to help things stick • Build independence without pushing too fast • Adapt every session to how your child presents that day Who this suits • Pupils who freeze in class • Pupils who rely on fingers • Pupils who need movement and practical tools • Pupils who struggle with working memory or distractibility If you want maths to feel calmer and more achievable for your child, send me a message and we can set up a first session.
