About Sophie

Hello! I’m a friendly and patient online primary tutor who supports children with Maths, English, and homework help, while also helping them build strong learning and life skills that will support them as they move into secondary school and beyond. I hold a Master’s degree in Sociology and Criminology, which has given me a strong understanding of how children learn, develop confidence, and build independence. To ensure lessons are effective and relevant, I study and follow the primary Maths and English curriculum, so the support I provide links directly to what students are learning at school. Alongside core subjects, I focus on key life skills such as: • Organisation and time management • Focus and positive study habits • Confidence in asking questions • Problem-solving and independent thinking My lessons are: - Fully online - Structured but relaxed -Adapted to each child’s pace and learning style -Designed to build skills that carry forward into high school I believe learning should help children feel capable and confident, not pressured. I take a supportive approach that helps students understand how to learn, not just what to memorise, so the skills we work on continue to benefit them in later years. I’m also happy to communicate with parents to ensure lessons align with schoolwork and longer-term learning goals. About the lesson

My online lessons are designed to be structured, supportive, and engaging, helping primary-age students build confidence while developing strong Maths and English skills. Lessons are tailored to each child and are aligned with the primary Maths and English curriculum, ensuring the support provided connects directly with what students are learning at school.
I take time to identify areas where extra support is needed and adapt lessons to suit each child’s pace and learning style. A typical lesson may include:
• Reviewing current school topics or homework
• Clear explanations using age-appropriate examples
• Guided practice to build understanding and confidence
• Support with organisation, focus, and study habits
• Encouragement to ask questions and think independently

Lessons take place online in a calm and positive environment. I aim to make learning enjoyable and confidence-building, while ensuring steady progress over time. Parents are welcome to share learning goals or areas of concern so lessons can be tailored to best support their child.
